Take Highway 50 East to Placerville.  Exit at Placerville Drive and proceed right.  Follow Placerville Drive for approx. 3/4 mile to entrance of the El Dorado County Fairgrounds on the right.  Museum is located to the left of the entrance and is the current home of the El Dorado Western Railway Foundation, and the Diamond & Caldor Railway Shay#4.
