Sam continued his work with the reverse bar, the cab was oiled in preparation for painting, Art continued refinishing the parlor car windows and restoration was begun on one of the parlor car doors. Last weekend the oil tank was moved from its storage location and placed at the back of the engine house. It is being prepared to receive sealant on the inside and paint on the outside. Once that is done, hopefully within the next week, the tank will be placed in its permanent location on top of the water tank. 11/10/2004 A new book has recently been released focusing on abandoned railroads. One chapter in the book is dedicated to the Placerville Branch of the Southern Pacific. Click Here for a description and how to purchase this book 11/9/2004 More photos have been added to the Shay #4 photo page. Also, a new photo page dedicated to our machine shop has just been added. 11/5/2004 Just added: A new photo page of the Diamond Springs Yard. These may be among the last, as the yard is destined for destruction within the next few years. Click Here To View 11/3/2004 This last weekend we received a large donation of rail. It only comes out to about 400 feet of track, but that will be enough for several stalls in our new engine house once it is constructed. The rail came out of the concrete floor of an old power plant in Southern California. It was laid in 1923 and only used one time to move transformers into place.
